RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
2025

Grow Plymouth is in the heart of Plymouth’s Cultural Quarter and has a DIY ethos. Since 2021, the space has hosted events, residencies, pop-ups and much more. Following on from Grow’s #DIYRESIDENCIES programme we’re launching a new year-long programme where we invite artist and artist collectives to take over this centrally located space for 3-weeks at a time.

Grow is an art initiative in its own right.  And does not receive funding. The premise is that bringing people together will make a place, grow and ideally thrive, with the right conditions. It is based on, and part of the ecosystem, that is grassroots music and art venue Grow Hackney and studio ecosystem Grow Studios in London.

RESIDENCIES 2025

The first opportunity is December 2024, then runs from January-December 2025. The cost to artists for hiring the project space for 3 weeks is £500 which includes access to the space and dependent on the residency, also includes 1 x launch event, 1 x workshop and 1 x weekend open to the public. This price is designed to be as affordable as possible, makes use of the space for creative/community activity, whilst generating income to give us a better chance of financial sustainability.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR ARTISTS

  • Fee is £500, advance deposit required

  • Fee includes access to the space and dependent on the residency, also includes 1 x launch event, 1 x free workshop/talk (minimum) and a weekend open to the public

Read the T&C below before you apply and Complete the online enquiry form below. This form is for enquiries only, completion does not infer confirmation of the residency. We will not be able to accept all enquiries due to limited availability and reserve the right not to proceed without providing an explanation.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Cost: £500. This is for up to 5 artists, every additional artist is £50. Eg if there are 8 artists, fee is £650, making it £81.25 each

  • Payment: 1x invoice will be sent out for the deposit and 1x full payment to one person/organisation (we cannot split these payments up to issue multiple invoices)

  • Funding: If you have received funding to pay for the residency, we are able to request payment directly from funders once written confirmation from the funder has been received to the Grow team. We are able to part of funding applications, but this does not infer a successful residency if funding successful (unless previously agreed in writing from the Grow team)

“My residency at GROW provided the space and time I needed to focus on my Colossal project. I invited the creative community to a launch event, which offered an excellent opportunity to raise awareness and foster connection for my socially engaged print project. The team at GROW met my needs in a kind, progressive, and professional way, making everything run smoothly from start to finish.

The atmosphere and support from GROW, including the studio residents, made me feel at home, and their values towards grassroots arts and cultural activities align
