DIY DIGITAL - PART OF PLYMOUTH ART WEEKENDER 2024

Plymouth Art Weekender Logo

We were thrilled to be part of Plymouth’s flagship arts festival, Plymouth’s Art Weekender on 18-20 October. And this year, it was bigger and better than ever with hundreds of artists exhibiting, running workshops and activities and performing all over the city. It also returned to its roots with a DIY ethos and the artists are running the show.

DIY DIGITAL AT GROW

10 artists of Grow Studios took over the groundfloor project space from Friday to Sunday with a pop-up DIY activation to explore how we intentionally and unintentionally involve digital technology into our own everyday lives and creative practice. We asked how do we generate, store and process data and make it into something new? Artists involved included:

  • Aleksandra Sosnowska

  • Amy Moores

  • Beverley Roach

  • Chloe Georgakis

  • Jack Harman

  • Jordanna Greaves

  • Polly Plouviez

  • Shiva King

  • Stephen Tolfrey

  • Will Harvey

Over the weekend, we had over 160 people though the doors, had many conversations and connected with other local artists and the general public alike. Here’s some of the feedback we received:

'Such an impressive collective of art that merges digital and analgue mediums'

'Interesting use of AI versus artists' traditional practices'

'Lovely to hear about artist's process, in their artwork creatiion'

'Thanks for sharing your work - super interesting to see how digital processes intersact with your practices'

'It's so cool'
