A week residency and exhibition this November by three artists is called ‘Processional State’ presents ongoing slow research made at and of Maker Heights in Cornwall.
DIY DIGITAL - PART OF PLYMOUTH ART WEEKENDER 2024
For Plymouth Art Weekender 2024, 10 artists of Grow Studios took over the groundfloor project space with a pop-up DIY activation to explore how we intentionally and unintentionally involve digital technology into our own everyday lives and creative practice.
OPEN STUDIOS 2024
The studios of Grow Plymouth opened its doors for the first time for Open Studios on Sat 7 September. We were also joined by artist-in-residence Sue Lewry, who introduced mobile print making machine ‘Collosal’.
SUE LEWRY’S MOBILE PRINTMAKING MACHINE ‘COLOSSAL’
On Saturday 7 September (11-3pm), the artists of Grow will be opening their studios to show what goes on behind studio doors and artist-in-residence Sue Lewry will be revealing ‘Colossal’ a mobile printmaking machine in the ground floor space.
LOCAL PEOPLE SEW A KILOMETRE OF STITCHES BY HAND TO MAKE NEW ARTWORKS
Plymouth-based artists LOW PROFILE (Rachel Dobbs and Hannah Rose) have been inviting local people to join them once a month for open sewing sessions at GROW to make a series of new banners using simple patchwork and hand-quilting techniques. This month, the finished banners will go on show for the first time at an exhibition in GROW.
IN SEARCH OF SOLACE - ARTIST TERRY FLOWER TAKES UP RESIDENCY
Terry Flower will be taking up residency on Tue 22 October where he is using the downstairs space as a studio. He will be bringing the series of portraits from his studio to show ‘In search of Solace’, opening on Friday 25 October (5-9pm), also open to the public Sat 26 and Sun 27 October (10-2pm).
EXPERIENCING PLYMOUTH BEACHSCAPES WITH SHIVA KING
Artist Shiva King opens the doors to Experiencing Plymouth Beachscapes, a three-day artist’s residency at GROW, culminating in a two-day show. Shiva will be immersing herself in the captivating world of Plymouth beaches, seeking beauty amidst the debris of the shore, and embracing the significance of the Great British Beach Clean initiative.
SHARING INTANGIBLE HERITAGE - A VIRTUAL RESIDENCY, PART OF A ‘CREATE SYRIA’ PROJECT
As part of the ‘Beyond The Now’ project, GROW has been hosting virtual artists-in-residents from Syria. This included meeting online to share practice, projects and life in our respective geographical areas. We invite you to participant in activities in on Friday 11 August to explore and interact with their projects.

Architectural researcher Leah Dinning joins us for her day residency on Friday 28 April, showcasing her Practice in Progress from her PhD at the University of Plymouth exploring the liminal nature of public space in the city.
